A Man Fined For Snowboarding Through St. Petersburg Streets

A young snowboarder pulled by a car of his friends weaved through the streets on St. Petersburg on a snowy night and was stopped by police to get fined (see this video).

Snowboarding behind a car is becoming a trend in recent years with amazing videos being emerged in New York, Montreal and London. New Yorks’s vlogger and filmmaker Casey Neistat (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRv7G7WpOoU) can find his soul friends in St. Petersburg, Russia. But while Neistat was riding along streets closed for traffic, the man here was snowboarding on an empty, but still working road.

This winter the city has seen at least two such cases, with the first one happened in January, when another snowboarder chose Nevsky avenue, the main thoroughfare and the most touristic street of St. Petersburg, to weave across in the daytime. He tried to explain his action by an attempt to draw attention to bad work of city services. Interestingly, that Nevsky was being cleaned up in short hours after a snowfall.

Bad news for urban snowboarders this year is that this winter in St. Petersburg can hardly be called snowy.
