A journalist, an unnamed young woman, reported that Diego Armando Maradona (yes, that one) offered her 500 euro for having sex which she refused and called the police, St. Petersburg Fontanka.ru news website has written today. Right now, the police cannot question the football star as he «is sleeping».
Maradona arrived in St. Petersburg to watch the FIFA Confederations Cup 2017 final match that took place yesterday leaving the Germany team with the Cup and the Chile one being in second place. On days before the game, he was reported to be strolling in the streets alone, and, what’s more interesting, far beyond the tourist center. Some social network users shared selfies with smiling Maradona dressed just like if it were winter days, not summer (and it was nearly so).
Today in the early morning, a young journalist came to the W hotel where Maradona stayed to do an interview with him. Sometime after she had entered his room, she appeared near a reception desk and said that the star offered her 500 euro for having sex and was violent, Fontanka reported. The hotel’s employees called the police. The journalist confirmed her accusations at a police department but said that there were no violent actions by Maradona, just an offer.
A procedure suggests that the police question Diego Maradona, who was reportedly sleeping at the time when the news has emerged. In Russia, prostitution and any actions encouraging selling or buying sex are strictly forbidden and can have legal consequences.
UPDATE
Lenta website on basis of information from the Komsomolskaya pravda paper and The Five TV channel reported that the journalist was Ekaterina Nadolskaya (we hear this name for the first time). In her words, she was in Maradona’s room at night (it’s unclear how and why she came there, but an original version is that she had come for an interview) when the football star tried to undress her. She became angry and rejected Maradona’s attempts to seduce her. Then «Maradona’s aid has come, thrown 500 dollars to me and they have called the guard. Three men brought me out of the room. They didn’t even let me take my thing away. The police came at 8 a. m., only then my dress was given back to me. I went with the police, and no one offered me apologies», she said in an interview with the Komsomolskaya pravda.
To be honest, these words have not brought much light to what’s had happened. There is no information that Maradona was questioned by the police and that he was even aware of the journalist’s claims.
To be continued.
