The Russian government has set up a schedule of public holidays and days off for the year 2022. We have 247 workdays and 118 days off, including weekends.
Please, keep in mind that some workdays have become days off and vice versa, which may unexpectedly impact your stay in St. Petersburg.

New Year and the Orthodox Christmas
(celebrated on December 31 and January 7)
Days off: 1 January 2022 – 09 January 2022 (the first workday is January 10)
The Defender of the Fatherland’s Day
(celebrated on February 23)
Day off: 23 February
International Women’s Day
(celebrated on March 8)
Days off: 8 March
Spring and Labor Day
(celebrated on May 1)

(celebrated on May 9)
Days off: 1,2,3 and 9-10 May
The Independence Day
(celebrated on June 12)

Other holidays which don’t affect an ordinary schedule, but are worth keeping in mind:
• Maslenitsa will be celebrated on February 28 — March 6, 2022;
• the Orthodox Easter will take place on April 24, 2022;
• a solemn opening of the Peterhof fountains usually falls on the third Saturday of May, which is May 21, 2022;
• St. Petersburg’s birthday is on May 27 (usually celebrated on a weekend).
