KLM To Double St. Petersburg – Amsterdam Flights

KLM

Netherlands’ air carrier KLM adds second daily flight between St. Petersburg and Amsterdam to its schedule as of 19 February 2017. The evening flight from St. Petersburg will be joined by a morning departure, thus doubling the carrying capacity. The move appears to be reasonable amid growing numbers of tourists coming to and coming out of the Russian city.

Currently, the airline provides only one flight between the destination in each direction, and another option is of Air France, KLM’s partner, though with a five hour layover in Paris.

From February 19, 2017 the flight schedule Amsterdam — St. Petersburg will be looking as following (local time):

Amsterdam

St. Petersburg

12.50

17.35

20.30

01.30 (next day)

St. Petersburg

As we wrote St. Petersburg is experiencing a tourist boom caused by the weak ruble and the understanding that the deterioration of relationships between Russia and the EU has not influenced the tourism industry in terms of movements and visa control etc.

What’s more attractive for the airline is the FIFA Confederations Cup 2017, four matches of which, including the final, will be held in St. Petersburg. KLM is one of the biggest airlines serving routes between the Americas and Russia, and two teams from the continents will be playing in St. Petersburg next year, Mexico and Chile, both countries are well populated, the fact that is likely to add traffic on the Amsterdam — St. Petersburg leg.

P.S. There is only one airport in St. Petersburg — Pulkovo.
