There are changes in the Peterhof’s schedule for the high season 2019 which started on April 27 with the opening of the fountains. In a response to steadily growing tourist in-flows the museum extended working hours of the Lower Garden and the Great Peterhof Palace to better deal with visitors. That’s good news special for those with limited time in Petersburg.
During high season 2019 (April 27 – mid October):
• The Lower Garden, where the famous Peterhof’s fountains are, will be open from 11:00 till 21:00 (during a low season and previously during a high season it closed at 18:30). Though the fountains shutdown at 20:15. Daily.
• The Grand Peterhof Palace will be open from 10.30 till 21:00. Time slots for individual visitors are 12:00 – 14:30, 16:15 – 19:45. Closed on Mondays and the last Tuesday of a month. More information on tickets to the Palace in 2019.
What it means for you?
First, your stay in St. Petersburg is now more flexible. In previous years, most travelers had to take a rush tour around the Hermitage and then take a fast ride to the Peterhof trying to pack these two time consuming (and strength consuming too) attractions in a very tight schedule. Now you can relax and get more from visiting the both.
Second, you can visit the fountains in the evening when there will be less people than in the morning and afternoon. Most tourist groups have already made up their schedules and there is a very weak possibility they will move their arranged daytime visits to the Peterhof to the evening time.
What’s important is that hydrofoil carriers should also extended their schedules. We have checked it out to discover that they still have not. Last flights of the meteors (hydrofoils) to the Lower Park are still at about 18:00.
