Saint Petersburg is the second most popular Russian city among clients of HotelsCombined.com, the company’s country branch, RoomGuru.ru, said. The city is behind Moscow, but in terms of duration of stay and accommodation rates we could put it first.
As statistics of HotelsCombined.com shows, foreign visitors to Russia have booked most often Moscow, St. Petersburg and Vladivostok in 2016. An average stay in Moscow lasted 2 days and cost 7400 rubles ($113) per night, in St. Petersburg – three days and 6000 rubles ($92) and in Vladivostok – two days with 6500 rubles ($100) per night.
Other cities from Top-10: Irkutsk, Sochi, Khabarovsk, Kazan, Kaliningrad, Ekaterinburg, and Novosibirsk.
In Top-30 is also a town of Vyborg, a medieval pearl of Europe and Russia, just one and a half hour journey away from St. Petersburg perfectly accessible for a daytrip. Interestingly, that Vyborg is number 1 of Top-30 in terms of price: one night in a hotel here costs just 2900 rubles ($45).
Next year St. Petersburg may fall out of Top-10 since hoteliers are reported to be willing to increase rates for accommodation by 30%.
