The world football tournament to be held in Russia in 2018 seems to be going to be well equipped in relation to information services. Almost two years before the competition St. Petersburg authorities opened the first of eight specialized information centers for fans.
The infocenter is opened at 27, Millionnaya street (on photo), just a three-minute walk from the Hermitage museum and the Palace square.
Its main function is to promote the tournament (though the necessity of such promotion is rather doubtful) in Russia and abroad and help the supporters who will come with their teams with information about city’s transport infrastructure, accommodation, entertainments, special events within the Cup etc. To be honest, we cannot see big difference with the existing network of information centers in St. Petersburg, one of which is located just opposite the Hermitage.
In 2017, seven further such centers will be opened throughout the city, including the passenger marine port and Pulkovo airport.
The new centers will probably be first tested during the 2017 Confederation Cup to be held in Moscow and St. Petersburg in May next year. As we wrote, the Russian government has established the price limits for accommodation for these events.
The first information center is opened on Monday-Friday from 10.00 to 19.00 and closed on weekends.
