Price Limits For Hotel Rooms During 2018 World Cup and 2017 Confederations Cup

Astoria Hotel

For the period of Confederations Cup Russia 2017 and 2018 World Cup, government-regulated hotel price limits come into effect.
In St. Petersburg, these limits come into effect as of May 17, 2017 until August 2, 2017 for Confederations Cup and as of May 15, 2018 until August 14, 2018 for World cup.

Important note.* We translated the decree signed by Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev in February 2016. The document seems to need some comments. The categories of rooms mentioned in the decree are taken from the Russian hotel classification system. This system contains such a term as a luxury room, in Russian «люкс». It’s sort of a room that belongs to the highest ranking, but a bit lower than a suite and an apartment. In our chart, we translated this as deluxe. So, please, note that our deluxe here is not strictly the same term you might be got used to. It’s something between a suite and a standard room.

In 2017, St. Petersburg hosts a few matches of Confederation Cup. The games as well as as in 2018, will take place at the Piter Arena (now under construction) on Krestovsky island. The nearest metro station is Krestovsky island (ostrov), getting to the stadium takes about 25 minutes, though we think that shuttle buses will be organized. A new metro station is promised to be constructed near the stadium.

In 2018, St. Petersburg will host 7 games, including one of round of last 16, one of semi-finals and the third-place game. The final match will be in Moscow.
