14 St. Petersburg bridges will become Wi-Fi hotspots from April 1, officials said. Some of them are located in the historic center. Though we think it’s just a pleasant addition to existing network, but not that desperately needed as you can connect online at most shopping malls, cafes and even some public transport.
St. Petersburg has its own city’s free Wi-Fi network called Spb Free Wi-Fi. It is now available in the central district as well as on the Vasilievsky and Petrogradsky islands. These free areas make up the historic center of St. Petersburg. The area covered by Spb Free Wi-Fi is rather small, but is steadily growing. You surely will find it when strolling in the downtown.
The following bridges are among those to become hotspots in the city center:

— Dvortsovy
— Kamennoostrovsky
— Birzhevoy
— Blagovestchensky
— Bolshoy Petrovsky
— Alexandra Nevskogo

Though we don’t think you will have to specially look for the nearest bridge to send an email or see trains departures. Any coffeshop, fastfood, railway stations, shopping malls and even many small cafes and shops, bookstores provide free Wi-Fi. Another reason: surfing the web when you’re standing on a bridge can be risky as it can be seen in the video below.
