Game Of Thrones Themed Festival To Be Held In Vyborg

game of thrones in Vyborg

Vyborg has been the stage for a few medieval festivals featuring dance, music, knight tournaments and competitions among spectators for years. This year’s annual “Medieval fairy tale” to be held from 11th June to 13th June will be dedicated to the Game of Thrones, the saga of George R. R. Martin and the best TV series of the last decade. Well, we at least find it the best.

A journey to the Middle Ages begins in Vyborg just at the moment as you are entering the town since it was a truly medieval settlement. It’s enough to go up a long spiral staircase of the Vyborg castle to feel the medieval spirit which is still alive here.

But the festival that is going to be a fun and educational event is another kind of action, it is interactive. First of all, you will meet historical things like re-enactments of camps, music, dancing and cooking. Another important thing is a fair with souvenirs and medieval-styled food. The festival has taken place since 2012, and during these days the town tends to be turned into what it might have looked like centuries ago to give you a taste of everyday life of the old days. There will be even a little zoo designed for children excursions.

You can also even contribute to the fest beyond just being a mere spectator. Everyone dressed in a themed costume will be given a 50% entry discount. It seems that dwarf will be especially welcomed by the public (haha, we’re joking, of course).

The Game of Thrones theme will be reflected in an assault on King’s Landing, dragon’s fire and the Song of Fire show. Organizers promise it will be highly impressive. Welcome to the Seven Kingdoms!
Festival program will be the same every day:
13.00 – Opening of the entrance to the festival’s area;
14.00 – Musical introduction. Knights presentation;
14.30 – Knights competition and knight equestrian tournament
16.00 – Break
16.40 – Assault on a fortress (King’s Landing)
17.00 –Musical theatre show.
18.40 – Sons of Dragon. Song of Fire show
19.00 – End of the festival
