St. Petersburg Sand Sculptures Festival To Be Held Till September 9, 2018

A traditional Sand Sculptures festival at the beach of the Peter and Paul fortress started and will last till the first decade of September. This year’s theme is the World Masterpieces.

The festival features 23 sculptures, some of which copy works created by world known and legendary artists like Michelangelo, Salvador Dali, Ilya Repin, Leonardo da Vinci, and monuments and buildings.

Some of the masterpieces exhibited at the festival:
— Milan Cathedral;
— Mayan pyramid;
— The Colossus of Rhodes
— Great Wall of China;
— Egypt’s Sphinx;
— paintings of the artists, listed above.

The centerpiece of the festival is the sculpture of the Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord, which (the church, not the sculpture) is located on the island of Kizhi.

The exhibition consumed 3,000 metric tons of sand, the square of the festival is about 4,000 square meters.

You can buy them only at cash desk near the entrance to the festival.
Price for adult is 350 rubles, children 5+ — 250 rubles, children under five enjoy free admission.
