Wizz Air Launches Five New Routes To St. Petersburg As Of September 2020

Wizz Air

The Hungary’s low-cost air carrier Wizz Air is busy with thinking of expanding its Russia-bound business instead of calculating loss due to the coronavirus. Demonstrating incredible optimism in the future of tourism, the company will start flying to St. Petersburg Pulkovo airport from five cities across Europe at low prices adding to the current network.

As Wizz Air’s CEO and founder József Váradi said recently the airlines will be serving flights to St. Petersburg from Salzburg (Austria), Oslo (Norway), Copenhagen (Danemark), Stockholm Skavsta (Sweden) and Malta. The flights will start on the 18th and 19th of September and be made at least three times a week. The fare will start from 24.99 (29.99 for Malta) euro with all taxes included. See the chart below.

— the fare applies only to bookings made through the company’s website wizzair.com or the corporate mobile app;
— only a limited number of seats for the fare in the chart are available.

Previously, Wizz Air launched flights to St. Petersburg from London’s Luton airport having replaced the British Airlines on the route as well as from Vilnius (Lithuania), Bratislava (Slovakia), Sofia (Bulgaria), Budapest (Hungary) and Bucharest (Romania).

The company’s focus on St. Petersburg is driven by the seventh freedom of the sky, introduced at Pulkovo airport in late 2019, and the e-visa tool which is applied to citizens of 53 countries.

In 2019, Wizz Air served 111,100 passengers on flights to and from Pulkovo, up 59.4 percent to 2018.
