Another St. Petersburg subway station is to be repaired. Lesnaya (Лесная), founded in 1975, will be closed for 11 months till mid-December 2017.
The station’s appearance will remain the same, St. Petersburg’s subway representative said. The focus of the works will be on replacement of waterproofing layer and evelators.
Though one thing will be new here. A wide automatically opened door for mobility impaired people will be built as well as a special tactile paving to turnstiles for blind or visually impaired passengers.
The area around Lesnaya is not heavily populated in comparison to other districts, and you are unlikely to book a hotel here as there are hardly any. But do people live here, so an additional bus route will be launched to neighbouring Vyborgskaya station. Intervals of tram and trolleybus routes to Chkalovskaya and Petrogradskaya subway stations will be shortened and some routes will be extended.
