New Car Sharing Service Launched In St. Petersburg

delimobil

Delimobil car sharing service was launched in St. Petersburg in late January. You can pick up a branded car from any parking throughout the city and drop it at another approved parking site after use. International driver’s license and a smartphone with iOs or Android platform are required.

Delimobil is a Russian car sharing company which first launched its project in Moscow and in early 2017 has come to Saint Petersburg with its fleet of 100 Hyundai Solarises which is set to increase to 300 by the end of the first quarter 2017.

Only drivers no younger than 21 and with at least 2 years of driving experience are eligible to use the service.

How it works:
— you register at the Delimobil’s website (https://delimobil.ru, only in Russian);
— you send your photo and scans/photos of your passport and driver’s license through the website;
— you receive sms with a password to sign in an account at the website;
— you sign a contract with the Delimobil company at one of its offices throughout the city or have it mailed;
— you download a mobile app;
— you find the nearest car to you through the app and book it and get 20 to get to the car without having to pay;
— you open the car with the help of the app and drive as much as you need;
— you drop a car at any approved parking site within the city’s territory limited by the Circle road.

There are two tariff plans: Basic and All included. They differ in charge per minute and the limit of the sum the user will have to pay in case of traffic accident caused by him.

Charge for use of the car per minute:

Basic:
rent (when driving) — 7 rubles
waiting mode — 2.5 rubles.

All included:
rent — 10 rubles
waiting mode — 2.5 rubles.

We see three problems here for the service to be in demand in St. Petersburg:
— too few cars now;
— taxi is sometimes cheaper;
— being limited by the Cirlce road.
