Self-Guided Quest Tours Around St. Petersburg In English

Hermitage

You download a mobile app and, solving puzzles thrown by this application, go through a small route quest. Alone or with friends; for one sitting or with a break for rain and a cup of coffee; can be taken separately to a museum or around town. The main thing: you do not need to look for a guide, you are completely on your own. Not to mention it’s cheaper.

The scheme of a tour is very simple: after downloading the application and going to the starting point, you start moving along the route. The application tracks you via GPS and when you reach a certain location, gives you a task. Upon completing it, you get the direction to go further. And so along the route, not just listening to a boring story about «was born in this house -grew-married» or «the monument is made in the style of postmodernism», which is an ideal thing to get a child fall asleep in the second minute with the help of typical guide’s «boo-boo-boo… in the nineteenth year of the last century», but bad to entertain you.

Some tours of St. Petersburg

For example, a trip to the Hermitage. By the way, a very useful thing, even if you throw away the fascination of the quest as such. The main difficulty in the Hermitage, in addition to the need to endure a long queue and avoid crowds of Chinese, is to understand – what exactly to see? The museum is huge, and the time you have, most likely, is a maximum of one day. Or just even three to four hours. Where to go? What to see? This task is easily solved by the application with the quest tours. Just follow the instructions, do simple tasks and don’t get lost at the same time.

Or a walk through the Peter and Paul fortress called «Old diary». The trip to the fortress connects various buildings, monuments and exhibits in a single story, and turns you into a true researcher. It is much more interesting than a traditional route.

Or take the «The secrets of the Vasilievsky island». Construction and development of the island occurred at the time of the founding of St. Petersburg, at the beginning and the first half of the XVIII century. Peter I had big plans for this area. Since then, many different kinds of» messages » have been left and are now displayed in the layout and architecture, not always noticeable at first glance. So the more interesting it is to find and solve them.

In general, a large number of quest excursions have been developed in St. Petersburg, which are not limited to the well-known Hermitage and the Peter and Paul fortress.

How to download the app to complete the quest? There are two ways

First:
1. Choose a tour on the website https://surprizeme.ru/en/saint-petersburg/
2. After payment you will receive an access code and a link to download the application
3. Download the app available through AppStore and GooglePlay

The second option: download the app immediately and pay for the route there.

How to take a tour-quest application

There is a number of essential things to keep in mind before starting your exciting adventure. The route and the scheme are built so that you are as comfortable as possible:
— does not require any special intellectual or physical training;
— you can walk along the route at any time after downloading the application, you do not depend on a group or a guide;
— during the walk you can pause for any length of time, allowing you to not get wet in the rain, quickly exit the quest and go away on urgent business or just make a break for cappuccino;
— it is recommended to charge the gadget well, take headphones with you (if there is a note in the route that this is an audio guide);
— the number of people who can walk on one downloaded application is not limited. Though we would not recommend to recruit more than five persons for one quest to avoid an overabundance;
— if you do not like a task for some reason, you can skip it by pressing the appropriate button.
