As military tensions escalate in the Middle East and new flight restrictions take effect, St. Petersburg’s Pulkovo Airport has published guidance for travelers. With several countries in the region temporarily closing their airspace, passengers are advised to monitor their flight status closely and use official communication channels provided by their airlines.
Several Middle Eastern states have restricted flights over their territories to ensure the safety of civil aviation. According to available information, aviation authorities in Bahrain, Iraq, Qatar, and Kuwait have temporarily closed their airspace. In addition, the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority has introduced its own restrictions. Russian airlines have already been notified of the updated rules.
Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya) has issued operational recommendations (NOTAMs) for domestic carriers. Airlines operating flights to the Persian Gulf are instructed to use alternative routes through the airspace of third countries. The emphasis is on strict compliance with all safety measures and continuous monitoring of directives from foreign aviation authorities.
The impact was immediate: upcoming flights to Dubai operated by Aeroflot, Emirates, and flydubai have already been canceled. Flights to Israel and Iran have also been suspended until further notice.
Pulkovo Airport urges passengers not to rely on rumors and to verify information only through official sources.
“Ensuring the safety of air travel is a top priority for both the airport and the airlines. To obtain accurate information about your flight, please check the booking management sections on your airline’s website,” the airport’s press service stated.
The airport also published updated airline contact details for quick assistance:
- Aeroflot: +7 495 223 55 55 и +7 800 444 55 55
- flydubai: Passengers are advised to contact the Dubai call center at +971 600 54 44 45, the Moscow sales office at +7 495 215 16 30, or their travel agent for rebooking and refund inquiries
- Emirates: St. Petersburg contact center: +7 800 555 19 19
Pulkovo Airport added that it will continue to provide timely updates and once again encouraged passengers to follow airline notifications closely.
