List Of Most Popular St. Petersburg Museums With Ticket Information And Opening Hours

Tickets to the St. Isaac Cathedral

We’ve made up a list of museums you’re most likely to visit during your stay in St. Petersburg. Schedule, price, nothing unnecessary. The list is regularly updated.

Some Important Notes To The List

— many museums have a lot of branches. For example, the Hermitage has a few, so we took only the most popular. In case of the Hermitage, it’s the main complex with the Winter Palace which most travelers visit and the Imperial Porcelain Factory. The same with Peterhof, which is home to many interesting attractions. We took only three, including the fountains, of course. So if you need information on something that’s not on the list, leave us a comment;

— during New Year’s holidays in early January St. Petersburg museums typically work in accordance with a special schedule, with the 1st of January being usually a day off;

— visiting the Peter and Paul fortress is free, museums there (nearly 20) typically not;

— the free admission days apply to any individual visitors of any age and nationality; they don’t apply to groups and guided tours;

— don’t forget that ticket offices close hour to half an hour before closure of the museum;

— the ticket prices indicated in the chart are full prices for one adult. Consult the museums’ websites to know if there are any discounts (they usually exist);

— opening hours and ticket prices in the chart are for a low season. They may change a bit in late April when a high season comes. That relates in particular to the Peterhof and the Tsarskoe Selo;

— no museum of the Amber Room exists. The Room is part of the exhibition of the Catherine Palace (the Tsarskoe Selo);

— access to the Catherine palace looks dramatic during a high season and long New Year holidays in Russia.
