The St. Petersburg authorities have made it obligatory to have a mask on your face and gloves on your hands for the period May 12 to May 31 with modified prolongation till June 14.
St. Petersburg and the nearby Leningrad region have been fighting the outbreak of coronavirus Covid-19 since March.
Some restriction measures have been taken in St. Petersburg in March, with most of them staying in place till May 31 and then prolonged till June 14. Right now, all green zones, be it woods or parks or whatever, are forbidden to enter as well as all sport facilities and kids’ playgrounds. Most shops are closed, eateries are forbidden for visiting, though you can buy there a take-out food or book it by phone and get it delivered.
There is no mandatory self-isolation, any person can come out of his apartment and go anywhere, except those 65+ and quarantined.
To curb the spread of the coronavirus, St. Petersburg’s government ordered to wear masks and gloves for everyone who comes out in public.
To be accurate, you must have your mouth and nose covered with any piece of cloth, including something you have created yourself. Clothes, be it a bandana or a scarf, don’t count, according to the text of the government’s decree published on the government’s website on May 9.
The decree says that wearing a mask and gloves is mandatory in public spaces:
— on transport stops;
— in public transport;
— at shops, establishment, etc;
— at cemeteries.
It is recommended to wear masks and gloves in the streets.
Masks and gloves can be purchased at any subway station and in retail chains.
